Bryan Alvarez, Christina Hawley Hurt in Merced County Car Crash on Highway 140 at Cunningham Road

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (April 13, 2022) — Bryan Alvarez and Christina Hawley suffered major injuries in a two-car accident on Highway 40 at Cunningham Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-car collision happened around 11:55 a.m. on Sunday. For unknown reasons, 23-year-old Bryan Gonzalez Alvarez failed to stop his northbound 2016 Volkswagen sedan at the intersection’s stop sign. Subsequently, his Volkswagen collided with a westbound 2018 Audi sedan traveling on Highway 140.
 
Due to the impact, the Audi overturned. Soon after, paramedics reached the scene and airlifted Gonzalez Alvarez and the Audi driver, 43-year-old Hawley, to Modesto-area hospitals for treatment.
 
At this time, CHP officers have ruled out DUI as a possible factor in the collision. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm what led to the accident.
