Passenger Dies Two Days after DUI Crash on El Camino Real, Teen Driver Arrested

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 28, 2021) – Braulio Pioquinto died in a DUI accident in the North County area of San Diego on September 21.
 
The accident happened around 3:00 p.m. on El Camino Real north of Cristianitos Road. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the 21-year-old victim from Poway was a passenger in a silver Dodge Journey.
 
The vehicle was heading south when it veered to the right and crashed into two parked cars.
 
The impact caused Pioquinto severe injuries. Paramedics rushed him to Mission Hospital in Orange County, where he died Thursday.
 
The driver, an 18-year-old woman from Yucca Valley, sustained minor injuries. Police later arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
 
She posted bail and was released from jail before the passenger died. It was not immediately clear whether she would face arrest or charges arising from her passenger’s death.
