Hit-and-Run Driver Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99

 
CHICO, CA (February 3, 2021) – Police identified Brandon Hicks as the victim who died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 on January 14.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Meridian Road around 7:00 PM.
 
Based on a report, Brandon Hicks was walking along the east side of the roadway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle struck him and left the scene after the incident. Officials said it is possible that the incident occurred because the victim was not visible to drivers.
 
As a result, the 49-year-old Chico resident died in the incident.
 
Crews closed Highway 99 for nearly four hours while officers investigated the case. As of this time, no other details are available. However, officials continue to work on the case.
