Police Chase on Panorama Drive in Bakersfield Ends in Fatal Crash

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 21, 2021) – One person was killed after a police chase on Panorama Drive in East Bakersfield early Tuesday morning, April 20.
 
25-year-old Branden Lewis LeMay Sr. died in the accident, according to the Kern County coroner’s office.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, officers tried to stop a white pickup truck on northbound Fairfax Road near Niles Street around 2:30 a.m.
 
The driver – LeMay Sr. – sped away and traveled to Panorama Drive where it continued west of Mt. Vernon Avenue onto Alfred Harrell Highway. The truck then drove down the hillside and overturned several times before it landed on its roof.
 
LeMay Sr., who was not wearing a seatbelt, ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
 
A female passenger in the truck suffered moderate injuries. However, the fatal crash remains under investigation.
