Authorities Identify Man Killed in Wrong-Way Head-On Crash in Sutter County

 
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (January 24, 2022) – Billy Xiong died in a wrong-way head-on accident on Highway 99 in Sutter County, early Sunday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 1:53 a.m. on January 16 just south of Nicolaus Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, Xiong was driving north when he collided head-on with another vehicle that was heading south in the northbound lane.
 
As a result, Xiong suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 24-year-old Chico resident, according to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office.
 
The driver of the other vehicle suffered major injuries.
 
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
