Pilot Bill Vann, Wife Susie Vann, and Friends Charles Wilson and Bobbie Keaton Die in Colusa County Chopper Crash
COLUSA COUNTY, CA (August 5, 2021) – Four people died in a helicopter crash near Highway 45 in Colusa County Sunday, August 1.
67-year-old Bill Vann, 60-year-old Susie Vann, 71-year-old Charles Thomas Wilson, and 62-year-old Bobbie Lee Keaton were identified by the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office as the victims of the accident.
The fatal crash happened around 1:15 p.m. near Highway 45 at Reservation Road. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, they all died while onboard a Robinson R66 helicopter. The helicopter crashed into a tomato field in rural Colusa County. After that, the sheriff’s office said first responders to the crash site pronounced the victims dead at the scene.
The Almond Board of California identifies Bill Vann’s company, Vann Family Orchards, as “one of the largest almond processors in northern California.”
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
