Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run SUV on Harris Road in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 30, 2021) – A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Harris Road at Country Meadows Drive early Saturday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 12:35 a.m. on August 28. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the male bicyclist was riding in the area when a car struck him.
 
When officers arrived, they located the bicyclist lying in the roadway with severe injuries. Paramedics rushed him to nearby hospital, where he later died.
 
Coroner’s officials withheld the victim’s identity pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, the involved driver fled the scene after the crash. Authorities described the suspect car as a late model, small to mid-sized SUV, possibly red in color.
 
Bakersfield police are still investigating the fatality. They urged anyone with information on the crash to call them at 661-327-7111.
