42-Year-Old Father Bicycling with Two Sons Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on 14th Street in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (June 20, 2022) – A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash at 14th Street and Jefferson Street in Oakland on Thursday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:21 p.m. on June 16. According to the Oakland Police Department, the 42-year-old man from Oakland was bicycling with his 6 and 8-year-old sons. The three were riding westbound on 14th Street when the father was struck by a vehicle that was driving in the same direction near City Hall.
 
After the crash, the driver did not stop to render aid.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the man to a hospital, where he later died.
 
The boys, who were riding their own bicycles, did not sustain injuries.
 
Police described the involved vehicle as a black four-door Infiniti. It was last seen driving westbound on 14th Street.
 
Police are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the driver. They urged anyone with information to call them at 510-777-8570 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
