Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Drunk Driver along Wooley Road in Oxnard

 
OXNARD, CA (February 16, 2022) – A bicyclist died in a DUI accident on Wooley Road in Oxnard, late Sunday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 10:18 p.m. on February 13 just east of Oxnard Boulevard. According to the Oxnard Police Department, a 2018 Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on Wooley Road at a high rate of speed.
 
After passing through the intersection, the vehicle veered onto the south shoulder of the road, striking the male cyclist riding a blue BMX-style bicycle.
 
As a result, the bicyclist suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver of the Honda, a 27-year-old Oxnard man, was not injured.
 
Police later determined that the driver of the Honda was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. They arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. They booked him into Ventura County jail with bail set at $50,000.
