Fatal DUI Accident on Highway 101 in Solana Beach Involves Hit-and-Run Driver and Bicyclist

 
SOLANA BEACH, CA (June 30, 2021) – A bicyclist was killed in a DUI accident on Highway 101 in Solana Beach Tuesday last week.
 
The accident happened on June 22, near the Revolution Bike Shop. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle rear-ended the bicyclist who was traveling on the highway.
 
The impact caused the victim fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Deputies said the involved driver is suspected of driving under the influence. He fled the scene but later turned himself in.
 
The bicyclist has not yet been identified. This fatal crash remains under investigation.
