Police Arrest Man for DUI after Killing Bicyclist John Crouch in Huntington Beach

 
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (June 10, 2021) – A bicyclist was struck by a hatchback and died in a DUI accident on Pacific Coast Highway at 1st Street Thursday afternoon, May 27.
 
The Orange County coroner’s office identified the victim as 68-year-old John Crouch of Huntington Beach.
 
Police believe Crouch failed to yield to a traffic signal while crossing PCH at around 1:30 p.m. According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, the bicyclist was hit by a westbound 2007 silver Toyota Yaris.
 
Crouch suffered critical injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he later died.
 
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. However, police arrested and booked the 23-year-old Bloomington man on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
 
An investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
