Hit-and-Run on Sepulveda Boulevard in North Hills Kills Israel Vera
NORTH HILLS, CA (March 11, 2021) – A bicyclist died early Saturday morning after a hit-and-run driver struck the victim in a crosswalk on Sepulveda Boulevard.
The victim was identified as Israel Ovando Vera, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. Vera was a transient.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the accident happened around 4:20 a.m., March 6 near Roscoe Boulevard.
The 38-year-old bicyclist was riding southbound inside of the crosswalk when a dark-colored 2007-2011 Toyota Camry four-door sedan struck Vera. The driver of the sedan failed to stop, call for help, or render aid as required in California.
Vera was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are still on the lookout for the suspect. They offer a $50,000 reward for anyone with information about this fatal crash. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run driver was asked to call investigators at 818-644-8022 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
