Bicyclist Suffers Injuries after Struck by Sedan on Bay Boulevard in Chula Vista

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (December 21, 2021) – A bicyclist was injured in an accident on Bay Boulevard in Chula Vista on Sunday morning.
 
The accident happened around 7:00 a.m. on December 19 near H Street. According to the Chula Vista Police Department, the bicyclist was riding south on Bay Boulevard in the middle of the traffic lane when a gray Toyota Corolla struck him from behind.
 
The impact of the crash caused injuries on the bicyclist. Paramedics took him to a local hospital for treatment.
 
There is a bike lane on Bay Boulevard but that it was cluttered with tree debris from a recent storm, police said. The city has arranged for a street sweeper to clear the bike lane.
 
Police said there was a misunderstanding between the two when the Corolla driver came across the cyclist and went to overtake him, leading to the crash.
