Cyclist Struck Dead by Vehicle on Santa Fe Road in San Joaquin County

 
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (July 19, 2024) — A bicyclist was hit and killed by a car on Santa Fe Road near Hall Road on Wednesday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol Stockton office, the fatal bicycle crash happened around 5:54 a.m. For unknown reasons, a southbound pickup truck traveling at 50 miles per hour struck the southbound cyclist from behind. However, authorities did not confirm why the driver did not see the man on the bike.
 
Subsequently, an oncoming pickup truck ran over one of the bike’s tires, lodging it underneath the vehicle.
 
Due to the crash, the bicyclist passed away from severe injuries. Officials did not release his name.
 
Police officers investigated the scene and interviewed both drivers. At this time, they do not suspect impairment to have played a part in the accident. However, if anyone has more information, please call the CHP Stockton office at (209) 938-4800.
