Bicyclist Killed After Being Struck, Assaulted by Motorist at Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point

 
DANA POINT, CA (February 2, 2023) — A bicyclist died after a driver hit and assaulted him at Pacific Coast Highway and Crown Valley Parkway.
 
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the fatal incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday. Under unclear circumstances, a driver of a white Lexus struck an avid bicyclist near the intersection. As a result of the impact, the bicyclist flew off the bike and landed in the intersection, where the driver pulled around, exited the vehicle and began assaulting him.
 
Per reports, the driver stabbed the bicyclist for unknown reasons until witnesses held him back.
 
Soon after, emergency personnel brought the cyclist to a hospital where he died moments later. Authorities have not released his name pending notification of kin.
 
Right now, detectives are reviewing a video of the assault and are working to determine a motive. If anyone has more information, please contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
