Bernardino Nava Arrested, Teen Hospitalized in DUI Accident on Kern Street and Sixth Street
TAFT, CA (February 4, 2022) — Taft Police arrested 28-year-old Bernardino Agustin Nava who was involved in a DUI crash in December.
Sgt. Corey Beilby said an officer found Nava in a laundromat on Tenth Street on Sunday evening. Then they arrested him without incident.
Officers originally arrested the Maricopa man on December 12. They charged him with felony drunk driving after a crash at Sixth Street and Kern Street. The crash sent a 17-year-old to the hospital with major injuries.
Police said Nava traveled southbound on Sixth. Then he drove through the stop sign at Kern Street and struck the car driven by the teen.
Officials booked Nava into Kern County Jail. Later they released him pending a court appearance. However, he failed to appear and a felony warrant was issued.
