Benjamin Perez Killed in Multi-Car Crash on Twentynine Palms Highway near Kerr Avenue
JOSHUA TREE, CA (January 17, 2025) — Benjamin Perez died in a multi-car accident on Twentynine Palms Highway near Kerr Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal multi-car crash happened around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. For an unknown reason, a Chevrolet Silverado driver was moving at a slow speed in front of a car, driven by 31-year-old Perez. Subsequently, Perez, traveling at a high rate of speed, veered to the right to avoid hitting the Chevrolet but lost control.
From there, Perez’s eastbound 2020 Nissan Sentra traveled into the westbound lanes and hit a Burrtec trash truck and a 2023 Tesla Model Y.
Moments later, paramedics responded to the scene and transported Perez to Hi-Desert Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. The Tesla driver was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries, and the Burrtec truck driver was unharmed.
At this time, CHP officers are looking for the Chevrolet Silverado driver who did not stop. Those with information can call the Morongo Basin CHP office at (760) 366-3707.
