Beatriz Diaz-Rodriguez Dead, Zora Culps Injured in Head-On Accident on Highway 101

 
GARBERVILLE, CA (November 23, 2022) — Officials identified 34-year-old Beatriz Diaz-Rodriguez, of Laytonville, as the woman killed in a crash.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 3:543 p.m. on Saturday, November 19.
 
A Toyota 4Runner driven Diaz-Rodriguez moved northbound on Highway 101 near milepost marker 32.30. At the same time, a Subaru Impreza moved southbound on Highway 101 north of milepost marker 32.30.
 
For unknown reasons, the Toyota crossed from the northbound lane over the solid double yellow divider lines into the southbound lane. It went directly into the path of the Subaru.
 
The Subaru crashed into the Toyota head-on, hitting the Toyota’s passenger side. Then both vehicles came to a stop on the southbound #2 lane of Highway 101.
 
As a result of the incident, Diaz-Rodriguez succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
 
The driver of the Subaru, 20-year-old Zora Culps, of Eureka, suffered moderate injuries. Medics rushed her to Saint Joseph’s Hospital from the scene.
 
There are no reports if drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.
