Barry Alan Absec Killed in Car Crash on Highway 138 in Phelan

 
PHELAN, CA (January 25, 2022) — One person died in a multi-car accident on Highway 138 near Highway 2 on Wednesday, January 19.
 
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department identified the victim as Barry Alan Absec, a 40-year-old resident of Chino.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the multi-car crash happened around 6:20 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, Absec traveled on Highway 138 near Highway 2 and Sheep Creek Road. Soon after, his blue Ford F-150 pickup truck was hit head on by a semi truck.
 
Despite life-saving rescue measures, firefighters and CHP officials pronounced Absec deceased at the scene.
 
At this time, the cause of the crash remains unclear. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm additional details.
