RIVERSIDE, CA (August 2, 2022) – A man who was barefoot died in a pedestrian accident on 215 Freeway in Riverside early Sunday morning, July 31.
 
The accident happened just before 2:30 a.m. just north of Blaine Street. According to California Highway Patrol, the man was reportedly barefoot as he walked in the same direction as traffic when a silver Mercedes-Benz struck him.
 
The man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was wearing shorts and no shoes at the time of the crash.
 
At this time, the identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
A SigAlert was issued at 2:54 a.m. shutting down all southbound lanes near the crash scene. An investigation is ongoing.
