Autumn Zachary Detained in Police Chase Crash on Niles Street at Mount Vernon Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 8, 2021) — Autumn Zachary faces several charges in a police chase accident on Niles Street at Mount Vernon Avenue.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Upon responding to reports of a stolen car, police learned that the daughter of the vehicle theft victim followed the thief who stole the vehicle. However, the suspect, 22-year-old Zachary, intentionally rammed into the daughter’s vehicle with the stolen car.
Subsequently, Zachary fled the scene, leading officers on a brief chase. Because circumstances escalated too dangerously for the public, police halted the pursuit. Soon after, Zachary collided with an uninvolved vehicle on Niles Street at Mount Vernon Avenue, leaving that driver with minor injuries.
Following the crash, Zachary fled but police became successful in capturing her, booking her into the Kern County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, stealing a car and other charges.
