At Least 1 Dead after Car Crashed, Overturned on 880 Freeway in Union City

 
UNION CITY, CA (April 25, 2022) — At least one person died after a car crashed and overturned on the 880 Freeway near Alvarado-Niles Road early Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal single-vehicle accident happened around 4:44 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver crashed on the 880 North Freeway and overturned, blocking the far-left lane.
 
Soon after, authorities and paramedics responded to the scene and closed all northbound lanes of the highway as officers diverted traffic at the Alvarado-Niles Road off-ramp.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, at least one person suffered fatal injuries.
