At Least 1 Hurt in McKinleyville Head-On Crash on Highway 101
MCKINLEYVILLE, CA (May 19, 2022) — At least one person was injured in a head-on accident on Highway 101 at Highway 200 on Wednesday.
According to a California Highway Patrol traffic incident report, the two-vehicle crash happened around 11:55 p.m. For unknown reasons, two cars, described as a Toyota Sequoia and a Dodge Challenger, crashed in a head-on fashion. As a result, one car caught on fire.
Shortly after, CHP officers and paramedics arrived at the scene and found one person located outside of one of the vehicles with injuries of unknown severity.
According to reports, another person involved in the crash left the scene. However, moments later, authorities were able to capture an injured party underneath the Mad River Bridge who might have been involved in the crash.
At this time, authorities have not indicated the leading cause of the crash. However, CHP officers plan to look into this case more closely.
