At Least 1 Hurt in San Diego DUI Car Crash on Highway 94

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 15, 2022) — At least one person was injured in a DUI car accident on Highway 94 near the 805 Freeway on Thursday.

According to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Jesse Matias, the two-car accident occurred around 1:00 p.m. A 37-year-old man driving a Cadillac sedan, who was possibly arguing with his girlfriend, crashed into a GMC sport utility vehicle on Highway 94 East.

As a result of the impact, both cars left the road and the GMC flipped over.

Following the accident, Good Samaritans tried to help the 21-year-old San Diego woman from the GMC, who suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Meanwhile, officers captured a female occupant of the GMC who tried to leave the scene while police arrested the GMC driver.

However, while paramedics tried to put the Cadillac driver into the ambulance, he reportedly tried to attack San Diego fire department firefighters. Fortunately, a CHP officer was able to help paramedics handcuff him to get him to cooperate.

Police believe DUI was a factor in the accident. However, if anyone has more information on this accident, please call the CHP.
