Armando Alfaro Jr. Detained, Officer Injured in Police Pursuit Crash on Highway 101 near Central Avenue

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (March 2, 2021) — Armando Alfaro Jr. was arrested after a police pursuit accident on Highway 101 near Central Avenue Monday morning.

According to deputies, callers reported a wrong-way Audi SUV around 12:00 a.m. for DUI suspected reasons. Alfaro was traveling in the wrong direction on Highway 101 North.

In response, deputies attempted to stop him. However, the 27-year-old driver led officers on a brief chase until Alfaro’s Audi slammed into a Monterey County Sheriff’s cruiser.

Shortly after, paramedics responded and transported the injured officer to a local hospital. Meanwhile, police arrested Alfaro for DUI, evading a peace officer, and other criminal charges.
