Antonia Portillo Dies in Mentone Car Crash on Citrus Avenue at Crafton Avenue

 
MENTONE, CA (April 21, 2021) — Antonia Portillo died in a two-car accident on Citrus Avenue at Crafton Avenue Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 11:10 p.m. Saturday. For unknown reasons, a southbound Mazda6 drove through a stop sign at the intersection. Subsequently, the Mazda6 slammed into the front-end of a Mazda CX-5 at an unknown speed.
 
Per the investigation, 91-year-old Portillo had just made a stop at the stop sign, prior to the impact, and had attempted a northbound turn onto Crafton Avenue.
 
Following the crash, paramedics transported three people to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Another team transported three others to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Unfortunately, Portillo died in the crash, despite having received life-saving efforts.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed if alcohol or drugs played a factor. However, if anyone has more information, please contact the CHP.
