Motorcyclist Dies after Struck by Car on 880 Freeway near Seventh Street

 
OAKLAND, CA (February 22, 2022)Anthony Coleman was killed in a motorcycle accident on 880 Freeway in West Oakland, early Sunday morning.
 
The accident happened around 12:34 a.m. on February 20 near the Seventh Street off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a purple BMW traveling in the carpool lane struck the motorcycle from behind. It then overturned from the impact.
 
Oakland Fire Department crews immediately responded and found Coleman lying near his motorcycle. Soon after, they pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the BMW and a passenger did not sustain any injuries.
 
Coleman was a 34-year-old San Francisco resident.
 
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
