16-Year-Old Andres Hernandez Killed in Bicycle Accident on Hemlock Street near N Street

 
OXNARD, CA (October 4, 2021) – Authorities identified 16-year-old Andres Hernandez as the bicyclist killed in a hit-and-run accident on Hemlock Street, Wednesday evening.
 
According to the Oxnard Police Department, the incident happened on September 29, at about 8:30 p.m. As per reports, a vehicle hit the westbound bicycle from behind.
 
The impact of the collision ejected the teen boy from the bicycle just east of N Street.
 
Emergency crews then rushed Hernandez to Ventura County Medical Center, where he later died.
 
As per reports, the driver of the vehicle immediately fled the area and abandoned the vehicle near Paterson Road. Officers later located the driver, identified as 39-year-old Julio Cesar Sanchez of Oxnard.
 
Sanchez was arrested for felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter and booked into the Ventura County Jail.
 
Oxnard police continue to investigate the fatal incident.
