Andres Candelas Killed, Aron Gonzalez Hurt in Rollover Crash on Avila Beach Drive near Highway 101

 
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (September 22, 2021) Andres Candelas died Tuesday in a rollover accident on Avila Beach Drive near Highway 101.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly event happened at approximately 12:45 a.m. For unknown reasons, 21-year-old Aron Gonzalez lost control of the wheel. Subsequently, the 2017 Dodge Charger traveled off the northbound road and struck a freeway sign before overturning onto Avila Beach Drive. The vehicle then crashed into the underside of the road overcrossing, partially ejecting Candelas out of the vehicle.
 
Shortly after, emergency personnel reached the scene. However, they pronounced 19-year-old Candelas of San Luis Obispo dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics transported Gonzalez, of San Luis Obispo, to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment.
 
At this point, investigators have ruled out impairment as a possible explanation for the crash. However, anyone with more information should call Officer R. McClure at 805-549-8700.
