1 Killed, Anarbo Cisneros-Torres Injured in Big Rig Crash in Shasta County

 
SHASTA COUNTY, CA (August 22, 2022) – A driver was killed in a head-on accident involving a big rig on Highway 299 on Thursday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on August 18 at about 6:30 p.m. A westbound Kia 4-door reportedly lost control after attempting to pass other vehicles on a sharp corner.
 
Then, the Kia entered the opposing lane and collided head-on with a big rig near Buckhorn Summit. The impact of the crash caused the big rig to catch fire. As per reports, the flames later spread to vegetation.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the Kia driver dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the big rig driver, identified as 44-year-old Anarbo Cisneros-Torres of Red Bluff, sustained minor injuries. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident.
