Amy Saetern Arrested, Two Children Hurt in DUI Accident on 21st Street
MERCED, CA (April 6, 2021) — A Merced woman identified as 21-year-old Amy Saetern died in a DUI accident on Wednesday, March 31.
According to Merced Police, officers rushed to the area of 300 East 21st Street at about 8:20 p.m. for a report of a traffic incident. Officials found Saetern, one of the drivers involved in the crash, to be under the influence of alcohol. She performed poorly on a field sobriety test.
Police said that the two of the passengers in Saetern’s vehicle were children, ages 3 and 4. The children sustained minor head and facial trauma. Medics rushed them to an area hospital where they were listed in stable condition.
Saetern did not sustain any injuries in the crash, police said. Authorities arrested and then booked her into the Mercer County Jail. She faces charges of felony DUI and felony child endangerment.
