1 Killed, Amos Brown Involved in Fatal Semi-Truck Accident on Highway 46 in Wasco
WASCO, CA (February 3, 2022) – One person was killed in a head-on accident on Highway 46 on Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on February 2 at about 6:15 a.m. An eastbound Lexus reportedly attempted to pass a Honda SUV. Then, the Lexus collided head-on with a Freightliner semi-truck hauling a load of hay.
The impact of the crash caused the Lexus to collide with the Honda SUV near Root Avenue and Smith Avenue. As per reports, the Lexus came to a rest on the shoulder of the highway, where it caught fire.
A fourth vehicle, a Toyota pickup truck, also became involved in the collision after it crashed into the spilled load of hay.
Emergency crews pronounced the Lexus driver dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
The semi-truck driver, identified as 50-year-old Amos Brown, remained at the scene and did not sustain injuries. Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver, 58-year-old Maria Loza de Lopez, and the Honda driver, 44-year-old Jorgelina Garcia, also did not need hospitalization.
CHP continues to investigate the fatal accident.
