Rider Dies in Fresno Crash at Maple Avenue and Harvey Avenue
FRESNO, CA (March 28, 2021) – A woman died in a motorcycle accident late Thursday evening in Southeast Fresno.
The accident happened just before 11:00 p.m. at Maple Avenue and Harvey Avenue. The Fresno Police Department said 25-year-old Amee Van of Fresno was riding her motorcycle along Harvey Avenue. She attempted to stop for the intersection but did not have enough time.
A Chevrolet Tahoe traveling down Maple Avenue struck Van, ejecting her from the bike.
As a result, Van suffered major injuries. First responders rushed her to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, she died sometime Friday morning.
The driver of the Tahoe remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
CHP officials said drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Amee Van.
