Amber Reaves Dies in Pedestrian Crash at 580 Freeway and 238 Freeway Connector
CASTRO VALLEY, CA (February 16, 2023) — Amber Reaves died in a pedestrian accident at the 580 Freeway and the 238 Freeway connector.
According to California Highway Patrol officers, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 5:10 a.m. Monday. For unknown reasons, 28-year-old Reaves, of Turlock, exited a white Chevy Malibu that was still occupied. Subsequently, a 71-year-old Castro Valley resident in a black Honda CRV struck her.
Reaves suffered major injuries and died as a result of the crash. Authorities still do not know what led her to exit the car, but domestic violence and DUI do not appear to be possible factors. According to the occupants of the Chevy Malibu, they were trying to find her just before the accident occurred.
Following the incident, authorities closed the eastbound 580 Freeway for nearly 90 minutes as an investigation took place. If anyone has seen this crash and can help the CHP, please call Daniel Jacowitz of the CHP Department.
