NICE, CA (June 21, 2022) — Amanda Arney died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Highway 20 near Sayre Avenue.
 
According to a news release, the hit-and-run incident happened around 12:10 a.m. on Sunday. For unknown reasons, a driver in what authorities believe was a silver 2013 Toyota Sienna minivan struck 24-year-old Arney who was walking eastbound — the same direction the Toyota was traveling.
 
Due to the impact, Arney fell down the embankment from the right shoulder and rested near a fence, partially shrouded in vegetation. By 7:40 a.m., the Ukiah Communications Center received word of Arney’s location.
 
Subsequently, California Highway Patrol officers and Fire officials responded to the scene and pronounced her dead on arrival.
