52-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in South LA

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (November 23, 2021)Alvaro Quinones was killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash in the Chester Square area of South Los Angeles Saturday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:00 a.m. on November 20. Quinones was crossing Western Avenue just north of 65th Street when a northbound sedan struck him. The driver failed to stop and render aid, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
 
While Quinones was lying in the roadway, a second northbound vehicle also hit him and he came lodged underneath it.
 
The driver of the second vehicle immediately stopped and attempted to help him.
 
Sadly, Quinones, a 52-year-old homeless man, died at the scene.
 
Police described the hit-and-run vehicle as a white, early model, medium-sized sedan with tinted windows. They asked anyone with information to call the South Traffic Division at 323-421-2500 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or, after hours, call the watch commander, at 323-421-2570.
 
The City Council offer a reward of up to $50,000 to people who can provide information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a hit-and- run driver.
