Deadly Fiery Accident on 880 Freeway in Fremont, Alonzo Mendoza Killed

 
FREMONT, CA (February 5, 2021) – One driver died early Wednesday morning after a fiery accident on 880 Freeway in Fremont involving three vehicles.
 
The Alameda County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed as 20-year-old Alonzo Mendoza of San Jose. He was the only occupant of the car that caught fire, authorities said.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fiery accident happened around 12:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of 880 Freeway.
 
CHP officials said all three cars collided for unknown reasons. Each car had one person inside.
 
A Ford Mustang caught fire, killing the driver inside.
 
It is unclear if there are other injuries sustained in the accident.
 
The CHP is still trying to determine if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in this fiery accident. An investigation is ongoing.
