Accident on Highway 99 in Atwater Involves 2 Big Rigs and Sedan

 
ATWATER, CA (March 14, 2022) – Alex Ramos was injured in a big rig accident on Highway 99 in Atwater on Thursday morning.
 
The accident happened around 7:50 a.m. on March 10, just north of the Atwater Boulevard off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2011 Peterbilt hauling acid was slowing down and stopping for traffic. Behind the big rig was a Mercedes sedan, driven by Ramos. A 2016 Freightliner hauling a flat trailer was traveling behind the Mercedes.
 
For unknown reasons, the Freightliner ended up colliding with the rear of the Mercedes, wedging the sedan between the two big rigs.
 
As a result, 42-year-old Ramos from Modesto was pinned inside the car. Arriving paramedics airlifted him to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with moderate injuries.
 
Officials said neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
