Domestic Violence Suspect Hits and Kills 2 Pedestrians in South LA

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (August 4, 2022)Alberto Leal and Lashonda Davis were killed in a hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles Tuesday morning on August 2.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:30 a.m. in the 4300 block of Figueroa Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a vehicle crashed into a street encampment while traveling at a high rate of speed.
 
When officers arrived, they found two people suffering from fatal injuries. Both victims died at the scene inside two tents. Leal was 44 years old while Davis was 43. Both were homeless.
 
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. He was also a suspect of multiple reports of domestic violence in the area.
 
Police later located the vehicle near the intersection of 52nd and Flower streets and took the suspect into custody.
 
LAPD investigators are collecting evidence and reviewing security footage related to this fatal crash.
