Alberto Leal, Lashonda Davis Killed by Car near 52nd Place and Flower Street

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (August 5, 2022) — Alberto Leal and Lashonda Davis were hit and killed by a driver near 52nd Place and Flower Street on Tuesday.
 
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the fatal accident happened around 12:40 p.m. For unknown reasons, police officers were mistakenly called to the 4800 block of South Figueroa Street around 11:30 a.m. for reports of domestic abuse. However, when they responded, they found no evidence of a crime and left the scene.
 
Over an hour later, they responded half a mile down the street from that location and found a suspect attempting to run away from the scene. Subsequently, authorities arrested the unidentified suspect who suffered minor injuries after hitting two homeless people at an encampment.
 
Paramedics responded to the scene soon after and confirmed the victims dead. Reports identified them as 44-year-old Leal and 43-year-old Davis.
 
At this time, authorities believe the driver lost control, struck a curb and slammed into two tents on the sidewalk. If anyone has more information on this accident, please contact the Los Angeles police.
