Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver Adrian Ortega in Irwindale
IRWINDALE, CA (March 30, 2021) – Police arrested 21-year-old Adrian Ortega of La Puente after a fatal hit-and-run early Saturday morning in Irwindale.
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the incident happened around 1:21 a.m. March 27 at Foothill Boulevard and Huntington Drive.
Ortega was driving his vehicle eastbound on Huntington Drive when he struck a bicyclist. However, he did not stop to render aid. Ortega left the bicyclist with severe injuries.
First responders pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene.
Shortly after the crash, police stopped the vehicle in the area of Francisquito Avenue and Sunset Avenue. After that, they arrested Ortega on suspicion of felony vehicular manslaughter, felony drunk driving and felony hit-and-run.
Ortega’s bail is at $100,000 bail.
