Elderly Woman Fatally Struck by Big Rig at Grocery Outlet on Poway Road

 
POWAY, CA (March 12, 2021) – An elderly woman who died in a pedestrian accident Wednesday morning in Poway has been identified.
 
A friend of the victim identified her as 81-year-old Adelaida San Miguel.
 
Around 9:40 a.m. on March 4, San Miguel was walking to Grocery Outlet in the shopping center in the 13300 block of Poway Road. While crossing the delivery access road behind the shopping center, a semi-tractor trailer traveling northbound struck her, dragging her about 50 feet and run over.
 
As a result, San Miguel suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the collision.
 
San Miguel’s friend has started a GoFundMe fundraiser, aiming to raise $5,000 to help with funeral expenses for San Miguel. As of 4:15 p.m. Monday, it had raised $2,405 from 48 donors.
 
The Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction (S.T.A.R.) Team was called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
