Speeding DUI Driver Crashes into Power Pole in Fresno, Amit Amit and Abhishek Choudhary Ejected from Jeep

 
FRESNO, CA (April 29, 2022) – Two men were killed in a DUI accident on West Barstow Avenue near North Contessa Avenue in northwest Fresno on Saturday morning, April 23.
 
Police identified the victims as 25-year-old Amit Amit of India and 22-year-old Abhishek Choudhary of an unknown residence, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
 
The accident happened around 12:30 a.m. just near Island Water Park. According to the Fresno Police Department, a dark-colored Jeep traveled northbound on Barstow Avenue. Soon after, it struck a power pole.
 
Responding officers found the Jeep in the middle of the roadway with major damage.
 
Officers found Amit and Choudhary in a nearby dirt field. After that, police pronounced both dead at the scene.
 
Officers said one of the men involved ran off, while the third patient was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
 
Officers were looking for the other man, leading to a California Highway Patrol helicopter assisting in the search. However, alcohol and speed are a factor.
 
About 1,500 PG&E customers were affected by the power outage.
