Fatal Crash near Jefferson Boulevard and National Boulevard

 
CULVER CITY, CA (March 3, 2021) – Officials identified a motorist who was killed in a car accident early Monday morning in a Culver City area riverbed.
 
According to the LAPD and the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, 29-year-old Abel Obeso of Anaheim died at the scene.
 
The accident happened around 1:53 a.m., March 1 near Jefferson Boulevard and National Boulevard.
 
An LAPD traffic sergeant said the Obeso was driving westbound on Jefferson Boulevard when he failed to negotiate a turn on the road. The car crashed through a fence and onto some old train tracks. It then ended up in a flood control channel.
 
As a result, Obeso sustained fatal injuries.
 
It was unclear if speed was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
