Police Pursuit in Rialto Kills Irene Jaramillo and Aaron McDonald, Police Arrest Alejandro Canchola for DUI
RIALTO, CA (April 4, 2022) – Aaron McDonald and Irene Jaramillo died in police pursuit in Rialto early Saturday morning.
The pursuit of a gray 2014 Nissan Maxima began in Colton just before 1:00 a.m. on April 2, according to the Rialto Police Department. The Maxima entered Rialto city limits, where officers located the car traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Linden Avenue and Randall Avenue.
The Maxima then ran a red light, where it collided with a silver 2019 Nissan Sentra. It also crashed into a home on the 1200 block of West Randall Avenue.
As a result of the crash, the couple in the Sentra suffered significant injuries. Paramedics rushed them to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where they later died.
McDonald was a 31-year-old Bloomington resident. Jaramillo was 30 years old from Rialto.
The driver of the Maxima, 24-year-old Alejandro Canchola of San Bernardino, and his passenger, 21-year-old Jose Castrocota of San Bernardino, were also taken to local hospitals with moderate injuries.
Police later arrested Canchola for DUI and murder charges. They will book him into a San Bernardino County jail after his discharge from the hospital.
