91-Year-Old Song Srun Struck, Killed by Driver on Plymouth Street in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA (May 19, 2022) Song Srun was hit and killed by a driver on Plymouth Street near Walnut Avenue on Saturday morning.

According to reports, the pedestrian accident happened around 9:42 a.m. in the 1600 block of East Plymouth Street. For unknown reasons, a female driver reversing out of her driveway failed to see 91-year-old Srun walking across her driveway.

As a result, her vehicle struck Srun as she backed out.

Soon after, paramedics arrived at the scene and brought the Long Beach victim to a local hospital in critical condition. However, despite having received life-saving efforts, Srun died shortly after.

Following the accident, officers interviewed the driver and ruled out speed, distracted driving and DUI as possible explanations for the accident. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm the liabilities.

If anyone has more information, please call Detective Kelsey Myers of the Long Beach Police Department Collision Investigation Team at (562) 570-7355.
