BERMUDA DUNES, CA (December 14, 2021) — James Wallace died in a small plane crash on Discovery Bay near Avenue 42 on Saturday night.
According to the Riverside County coroner’s office, 83-year-old Wallace died at 9:34 p.m. at Desert Regional Medical Center. He was the pilot, the sole occupant of the aircraft.
Earlier that day, the Palm Desert man crashed in the unincorporated community of Bermuda Dunes near a residence. Upon responding around 12:30 p.m., fire officials found him trapped inside the wreckage and freed him before taking him to a hospital, where he died.
Fortunately, no one on the ground was hurt from the crash. At this time, authorities have no information as to what caused the single-engine Moul Willis RV-3 to go down. However, the Federal Aviation Administration plans to look at all angles to determine the cause.
