Barbara Bailey Hospitalized, Elizabeth Riley Unharmed in Pedestrian Accident in Weaverville

 
WEAVERVILLE, CA (June 15, 2021)Barbara Bailey was injured in a pedestrian accident on Highway 299 at Highway 3 Wednesday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, 69-year-old Elizabeth Riley failed to see 82-year-old Bailey crossing while making a turn onto eastbound Highway 299.
 
As a result, Riley struck Bailey in a marked crosswalk. Bailey, of Weaverville, suffered major injuries and received hospital care shortly after at Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
 
As of now, police have ruled out DUI as a possible explanation of the accident. However, if anyone has additional insight into this case, please contact the CHP.
