Elderly Woman Dies after Struck by Car at North Main and Boliver Streets

 
SALINAS, CA (June 14, 2022) – An 81-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian accident at North Main Street and Bolivar Street in Salinas on Sunday evening, June 5.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:41 p.m. According to the Salinas Police Department, the woman pushing shopping cart crossed both southbound lanes, the center left-turn lane, and one northbound lane when a northbound 2015 Chevrolet Impala struck her.
 
The 32-year-old driver tried to stop to let the woman cross, but unsuccessful. They remained on scene after the crash.
 
First responders rushed the woman to Natividad Medical Center, where the victim succumbed to her injuries.
 
Police said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash. Further investigation is underway.
