HOLTVILLE, CA (January 17, 2022) – A 75-year-old man from Sedona, Arizona was killed in a head-on accident on 8 Freeway on Monday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on January 3 at about 12:40 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, an eastbound 2007 Chevy drifted over the dirt center median. Then, it collided with a westbound 2019 Lexus near Anderholt Road.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the driver of the Lexus dead at the scene. As per reports, the victim succumbed to blunt-force trauma injuries. Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, REACH helicopters transported a 78-year-old woman and a 53-year-old woman to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Authorities also transported the Chevy driver, a 61-year-old Ocotillo man, to Desert Regional.
 
CHP ruled out impairment as a factor in the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
